I’m Emily - Optometrist at On Point Eyecare.

Having grown up in Mackay and with family still living locally, it’s incredibly rewarding to care for people within the community that helped shape me. I’m passionate about helping people understand their eye health and feel confident in the care they receive.

What I love most about optometry is the positive impact it can have on everyday life. Whether it’s helping someone see more clearly, improving comfort, or identifying an eye health concern early, good vision plays such an important role in independence, confidence, learning, and overall wellbeing.

My approach to care is centred on compassion, active listening, and evidence-based practice. I want every patient to feel heard, informed, and involved in decisions about their eye health. I believe the best outcomes come from taking the time to understand each person's concerns, explaining things clearly, and working together to find the right solution.

Clinical Experience and Areas of Interest

As a therapeutically endorsed optometrist, I enjoy assessing and managing a broad range of eye health conditions and ocular disease. I have a particular interest in developing my expertise in children's vision and eye development, recognising the important role vision plays in learning, development, and confidence throughout childhood.

I am passionate about delivering thorough, personalised care and helping patients better understand their eye health so they can make informed decisions about their vision and wellbeing.

Outside the Clinic

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through running and social tennis, and I also enjoy spending time on creative projects and exploring different forms of art.

A fun fact that often surprises people is that before becoming an optometrist, I worked as a laboratory medical scientist before making the decision to pursue a career in optometry.
